Your Emoticons Won't Save You - BOOK RELEASE!

I was honored to be mentioned the other night at the book release party for Your Emoticons Won't Save You, the first novella and second book by Author and Teacher, Ethan Nichtern. I was invited to create the illustrations as well design an original emoticon to assist in serving up some guerilla marketing. After the success of his first book, One City: A Declaration of Interdependence, Ethan elected to try emerging distribution methods and self-publish his work as an eBook. He's also releasing a limited edition print run and I must say the results look pretty amazing!

Also can't mention Ethan without plugging his burgeoning non-profit, The Interdependence Project, which promotes 21st Century Buddhist teaching in conjunction with various activism projects. (Currently under the direction of Wunderkrafthaus's own Patrick Groneman!) They do some noble work and have formed an excellent community here in New York City - If you're local I suggest checking out some of their classes and events!

Incredibly amped to be joining the staff at Titmouse Animation to design backgrounds for Season 5 of Adult Swim's Venture Bros! I'll be designing some radical retro spy labs, mod super villain lairs, deluxe battle station bridges and a few sci-fi hallways. This show is really well done and I highly recommend it if you're at all a fan of action/comics/super science stuff. I can hardly express this excitement in blog form!

The culmination of an epic international journey of artistic triumphs, failures and general entropy, I'm pleased to present to you, Mawson's Peak! Featuring the music of French Horn Rebellion. This is the first installment of a series of videos to reveal the narrative of their latest release, "The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion" (iTunes). The prequel is underway.

French Horn Rebellion is a synth heavy electro pop duo of brothers based in Brooklyn, NY. I liked one youtube users description of Daft Punk on LSD - check it out!

This was done on spec for a proposed graphic novel anthology featuring original stories from the series 'John Carter of Mars' by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The project was spearheaded by artist Mike Cavallaro and he assembled a pretty stunning group of artists and writers to participate, however with Disney/Marvel holding all the cards for JCofM right now, finding publisher to take on the project has been a challenge.

Still, I had a surprisingly good time doing this pin-up of yet another classic character of science fiction.

I'm participating in some of the daily drawing challenges at the blog of my new studio, Drawbridge. I'm surrounded by a lot of talented Illustrators and it's nice to see people dirtying up paper with ink again. I'm finding that working with established character icons is giving me a nice opportunity to experiment with technique.

For those of you who don't live within 3 blocks of Master Kontrol (my home & studio), my artist group, Wunderkrafthaus, is being turned into a TV show! Well... first a TV Pilot and then we'll see. Thanks to the folks over at Independent Together, we're shooting in two weeks and we're all super busy trying to make this happen. Here is a photo on set from a trial shoot with Wunderkrafthaus as portrayed by three man comedy team, The Mook Brothers.
