This was done on spec for a proposed graphic novel anthology featuring original stories from the series 'John Carter of Mars' by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The project was spearheaded by artist Mike Cavallaro and he assembled a pretty stunning group of artists and writers to participate, however with Disney/Marvel holding all the cards for JCofM right now, finding publisher to take on the project has been a challenge.
Still, I had a surprisingly good time doing this pin-up of yet another classic character of science fiction.
